1.) The Maya calendar was very complicated. They used the sun, moon, and Venus to base the 365 day calendar which is called the Haab. Mayans went on a number system based on the 20's. They used the calendar for events on "lucky" days like ceremonies,marriages, and even battles. The mayan used tools like observatories and also shadow casting devices to trace movements to make a calendar that was only off by 14 minutes. These calendars are used to make the calendars we use today!

2.)The ancient Mayans used compasses to locate their buildings. They located their buildings so it was easier to study astronomy. Another reason they located their buildings was to please the gods. A technological advance of the Mayans were stone tools. They used the tools for cutting, grinding, and hunting. Finally, they also traded their stone tools for other goods.
